Wayne County Back to School Program at ACC

Detroit, MI - September 10, 2007 Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano will visit the Arab American and Chaldean Council's (ACC) Youth Recreation and Leadership Center, 62 W. Seven Mile Road, at 3 p.m. Sept. 12.

Coinciding with the start of the 2007-08 school year, the county executive is set to distribute about 100 school bags filled with school supplies for the Metro Detroit area's underprivileged children, four to seven years old, as part of the Wayne County Back-to-School Program. Dan Rorrer of World Vision, one of the program sponsors, will also be present. World Vision is an international children's charity that has donated book bags countywide.

"Not only does this program provide essential tools for education, but it helps elevate self-esteem for those children in need," the county executive said.
